In a strange series of training camp events, it looks as if, for the meantime anyway, that Alex Cappa has heard your prayers. Simply received as a “Hey, I need to shut these people up…”, is what I imagine went through Cappa’s mind this offseason. But for whatever reason, the second year pro out of Humbolt State has yet to be supplanted from his first string right guard position.
Apparently it’s not just circumstance or snaps given to young player who (let’s be honest), could really use them given his track record. No, the best part about this is that Alex Cappa is dominating during training camp. Earlier today, Jameis Winston took some time to give his teammate some high praise.
Jameis Winston says second-year guard Alex Cappa has been “dominant.” Cappa is leading the competition for the starting RG spot.

So, here we have it. Cappa will have a chance this Friday to prove he’s not just a training camp hall of famer, but a very improved football player. Let’s hope, for the Buccaneers sake, that Cappa can turn in a solid outing versus Pittsburgh. It would go a long way to fixing the mess that is the Bucs offensive line.
