Week 12 Recap: Bucs @ Falcons

0

The Buccaneers win impressively and stun the nation by beating the red hot Falcons in Atlanta. Tampa Bay, as a whole, looked very good on the road this time. Both Ndamukong Suh and Vita Vea scored a touchdown in a bizarre game. Bucs win 35-22, move to 4-7.

Jameis Winston Plays Well After Early Struggles, Godwin Shines

It was somewhat of a typical Jameis Winston game. He started off terribly with two early interceptions. However, he is rarely rattled by mistakes and knows how to shake them off, which is a huge plus for Winston.

After his early errors, he found his way into the game and played excellent football. He finished the afternoon with 18 completions on 28 pass attempts for a total of 313 yards and three touchdowns. Two of his scoring passes were hauled in by Chris Godwin, who had a monster day. Godwin caught seven passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns. Winston’s third score went to Vita Vea for a one-yard touchdown.

Defense Looks Good As A Whole

Tampa Bay’s defense played arguably the best game of the season against the Falcons. Todd Bowles was able to create a pass rush and get to Matt Ryan all day. Consequently, the efficiency up front made the secondary play a lot better than Bucs fans are used to seeing.

All in all, the Buccaneers defense sacked Ryan six times. Additionally, Carlton Davis picked him off for the first interception in his NFL career.

Jason Pierre-Paul was able to strip-sack Ryan impressively deep in Falcons territory. Suh recovered the ball took it to the house for his second touchdown of the season.

If Winston had not turned the ball over twice close to Tampa Bay’s end zone, the Falcons would most certainly not have scored as many points.

Bucs Run The Football… Finally!

After calling only six runs against the New Orleans Saints, Arians and Leftwich finally chose to stick with the run a little more. Naturally, that took the pressure off of Winston. Ronald Jones ran the ball efficiently, averaging 4.3 YPC and also scoring a touchdown on the ground.

Bucs Play Great On Both Sides

After this highly impressive win in Atlanta, the Bucs travel to Jacksonville to play the Jaguars. It will be interesting to see if Tampa Bay can continue to play at this high level. If they do, the Jaguars are in for a very difficult matchup. Winston will, once again, play for the future of his career.
