The Glazer Family Steps Up in the Tampa Bay Area

The year 2020 has been odd to say the least. The majority of the world is in the grips of a Pandemic. Businesses, sporting events and all outdoor gatherings have at one point or another been banned. It’s a new world we’re living in these days, one that is void of good news. We as a nation are trying to pull together to help one another through this. We look for any kind of positive to pin our hopes on. Today is one of the very few days with something positive to report from a sports standpoint.

The owners of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have made a substantial donation to Feeding Tampa Bay. This donation will help feed nearly five million bay area residents who are struggling financially due to the COVID-19 virus. This will provide food and provisions to families and individuals, as well as assisting seniors confined to their homes.

Buccaneers Co-Owner Darcie Glazer Kassewitz had this to say,

“During these difficult and uncertain times, it is critical that we come together to assist those who have been most impacted by this crisis, our family is extremely grateful for the great work being done to ensure that meals are available throughout our communities. It is our hope that these 5 million meals will assist Feeding Tampa Bay in continuing to provide these essential resources and services that are so vital to so many.”

Feeding Tampa Bay has fed 2,600 kids each day, opened weekly mass food distributions, and has fed thousands of seniors. Thomas Mantz is the CEO of Feeding Tampa Bay, he had this to say,

“In a crisis such as we’re experiencing today, we need heroes to help us make sure everyone has the most basic need met – a meal on the table today, the donation of 5 million meals from the Glazer family is the largest of its kind to Feeding Tampa Bay during the COVID crisis and the impact to those who are struggling with job loss, income uncertainty and the fear of not being able to feed their family is incalculable. On behalf of those we serve, our thanks to the Glazer family for their generosity.”

While we all are struggling to find a light at the end of the tunnel, the Glazers seem determined to do their part to help us hold onto hope. That’s something we could all use right now.
