Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs dominated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first quarter of their week 12 matchup. This has become somewhat of a common theme for the Buccaneers. Playing from behind is not something Tom Brady has had to do much of in his career, and it is evident in his turnover statistics so far in 2020.
Last Four Games
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 1-3 in their last four games played. A huge reason why is due to the lack of execution in the first quarter. Tampa Bay has been outscored 52-14 in the first quarter in their last four games. That is not a recipe for success, especially with a struggling offensive coordinator who tends to abandon the run game.
Moving Forward
The Buccaneers are still the #6 seed in the NFC Playoff Picture and in great shape to make the playoffs. However, the constant trailing and three and outs in the first quarter needs to be turned around to help their chances. The Buccaneers have it a bit easier down the stretch. Two games against the Atlanta Falcons, one against the Minnesota Vikings, and one against the Detroit Lions. Tampa Bay has a chance to get things rolling on offense in December. But it all starts with a strong first quarter.
