When a high-profile all-star is the topic of conversation it is typically about stats, what they bring to a team, and their place in sports history. Often, their generosity, contribution to their community, and the size of their heart take a back seat to their stardom. But that has not stopped David Ortiz and Chris Godwin from continuing to give back!
The Shoot Out
Saturday, February 6th, Ortiz And Godwin will be hosting a star-studded golf outing. One you could not even dream up if you wanted. Taking place at TopGolf Tampa, Ortiz and Godwin have invited 50 celebrities. In addition, 600 lucky donators will get to swing for the fences alongside them. Or in this case the hole. All-Stars, Hall of Famers, music, and film superstars will be present to be a part of a great fund-raising event that benefits charity. It’s an opportunity to meet one’s favorite players or stars and donate to some great causes.
The event is abiding by a set of standards to ensure health and safety are of the utmost importance.
Who It Will Be Supporting
The David Ortiz Children’s Fund
David Ortiz, one of the most iconic baseball players in recent history started The David Ortiz Children’s Fund. Ortiz’s nonprofit organization is dedicated to the support and care for children requiring life-saving heart surgeries. Originally from the Dominican Republic Ortiz continues to aid his home country. His foundation has proudly partnered with the Centers for Diagnostics and Advanced Medicine and Medical Conferences and Telemedicine (CEDIMAT). Through Ortiz, countless children have received care in the form of outreach, education, and support for medical care.
Additionally, Ortiz has also partnered with Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital. His generous contributions and charitable work provide aid for the children of Boston. Importantly, a city that continues to embrace and hold him in high esteem due to his genorocity.

Team Godwin Foundation
He needs no introduction here in Tampa or elsewhere. NFL star wide receiver and Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin contributes on and off the field in Tampa. Furthermore, Godwin has established the Team Godwin Foundation here in Tampa to attack an issue close to his heart. Godwin and his wife established their foundation to raise awareness for at-risk animals. Additionally, through advocacy and financial assistance, Godwin’s team helps the animals of the Tampa seeking new homes and health care.
His foundation has joined forces with the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center and the Humane Society of Tampa. Secondly, the foundation has teamed up with Compassion Kind Foundation, and Harmony Vet Care. This impressive group saves and improves the lives of the at-risk animals of Tampa.
Godwin’s catch radius is impressive but his contributions to the City of Tampa are much larger.
