Bucs Report’s Best Bets for Week One NFL Matchups

0

The NFL is back! That means for many betting on the NFL is back as well. There are many experts out there to tell you where the smart money lies. All I can do is tell you what bets I like with my week one best bets.

Jaguars -2.5

Don’t get me wrong, the Jags are a team I’ll typically avoid as favorites. However, they are favored for a reason that I can get on board with. That reason is more about who they’re playing than it is about their roster.

The Jacksonville Jaguars travel to Houston this week to take on the Texans. To call the Texans a bad team would be an understatement. In fact, this might be the worst roster I’ve ever seen. If star quarterback Deshaun Watson were active then this would be a different story, but that’s not the case. This of this as not so much betting on the Jaguars as opposed to betting against the Texans.

49ers -7.5

The San Francisco 49ers are looking to rebound from an injury riddled 2020 and get back into contention. There aren’t many better ways to do that than playing the Detroit Lions. This appears to be one of the most one sided matchup of the week and a bet that I believe will pay off.

The Lions have a new coaching staff and a new quarterback this year. The returning defense is largely the same, which isn’t nessicarily good. This unit was atrocious last season. I expect the 49ers to score at will and Detroit lacks the fire power to keep up.

Atlanta vs Philadelphia under 47.5

These two teams might be two of the worst five rosters in the NFL. The Eagles have questions at wide receiver and at this point it isn’t clear who their answer at quarterback is. The Falcons traded away Julio Jones in the offseason and seems to be moving towards a rebuild.

It’s hard to put faith in either of these teams to score 24 points or more. This is the average number these teams would have to reach to hit the over mark. I’ll put my money on two bad teams not playing well.

Browns +6.5

This is an AFC heavy weight clash. The Kansas City Chiefs are the two time defending AFC champions. They should be favored and will likely win this game.

With that said, the Cleveland Browns are probably the biggest threat to challenge for that crown. For one of the best five teams in the NFL, which I believe the Browns to be, being nearly a touchdown underdog feels like too much. I’ll take the points in this game.

Tampa Bay vs Dallas over 51.5

I fully expect the Buccaneers to win this game. However, the value on the money line (-350) just doesn’t seem worth it to me. Instead, I’ll take the over on the total points.

We know Tampa Bay has a great offense. I expect them to continue their postseason trend of scoring 30 or more points in this game. And while the Cowboys have their share of holes, they have a dynamic offense. So even if this game isn’t particularly close, Dallas will put up points in this game.
