Why This Is The Best NFL Season Ever For Buccaneers Fans

0

The 2021 season has been the most enjoyable NFL season ever for the Buccaneer fans. There! I said it. It’s not up for debate. It’s in the books. It became fact the moment that the words left my lips. But what exactly does any of that mean?

A Season Like No Other

Being a fan of a defending Super Bowl champion comes with a caveat, but it’s a good thing. Sitting upon the throne of the NFL mountain, you get to enjoy everything. Enjoy seeing the teams beneath us, hint; the answer is all thirty-one. Buccaneers fans get to peacock. We throw the plumage open and strut about. We are fans of the greatest football team in the world. It’s pretty great.

This also puts a target on the back of every Buccaneer jersey, players, and fans. Millions of fans of the thirty-one other teams can’t wait to see them fall short. From the moment a Lombardi is secured, the media can’t help but spin the “can they repeat” narrative. They have to, if it bleeds, it leads. And nothing bleeds like expectations unfulfilled. But the 2021 Buccaneers have a better idea.

This Ain’t That

Unlike the 2003 Buccaneers that saw a dictator of a coach in Jon Gruden wrestling control of the team from legend, Rich McKay. The 2021 version of the Buccaneers have front office harmony. Different from their first championship team that was coming off one of the most dominant defensive seasons in the history of the National Football League. But with an offense that made fans hold their breath for most of every single drive. The current Buccaneers squad had a defense that can down right shut down any opponent (when they choose to). Coupled with an offense that will have bedtime stories told of it for generations to come.

But back to that caveat. I use the term because the world is taking shots at you. Pointing out every flaw that should make the team beatable. Everybody knows that this is the squad that locked it down last year. They were the last man standing. They reign supreme. And they don’t want to admit that for as hard as it can be for a team of warriors to repeat. The nucleus is still the same. The coaches are still building and implementing some pretty incredible schemes that can make the team victorious on any given Sunday. Or, as is the case this week, Monday. It ain’t no thing but a chicken wing.

Just remember Buccaneers fans, they have to seem impartial, although they aren’t at times. The media, I mean. Because they know that between Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Antonio Brown, Lavonte David, Devin White and Jason Pierre-Paul. Not to mention Bruce Arians, Todd Bowles and Byron Leftwich. The talking heads know they are in rare air. So they have trouble at times separating the fact from the fiction. But that’s alright. This is where we come in. Buccaneers fans. We are here to remind them that this is the best damn team in the NFL. That seeing such a talented group of superstars is rare air in a salary cap league. Which only makes every second of the 2021 season so enjoyable.

I don’t know if you’ve heard. It’s the most enjoyable NFL season ever for Buccaneers fans.
