Arians: Buccaneers Vaughn Needs to Make Plays

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians was recently a guest on Buccaneers radio and discussed the Bucs running back situation. The team is entering it’s first game after the injury to running back Leonard Fournette.

Wednesday they signed free agent running back Le’Veon Bell to help with a shallow Buccaneers running back depth chart. With Fournette out and Bell just getting fitted for his pewter and red, the Buccaneers have Ronald Jones and Ke’Shawn Vaughn to rely on this Sunday. Arians is hoping for Vaughn to step his game up and take advantage of this opportunity.

“Ke’Shawn can run the ball. I wish he trusted his hands a little bit more. You know, he stumbled on one, dropped one. And those are plays he can make. He can make big plays for us, and he’s going to have to down the stretch.”

Vaughn hasn’t exactly lit it up since being drafted in the third round of the 2020 NFL draft. He’s totalled less than 200 yards of total offense and scored a lonely touchdown. To compound things, Vaughn hasn’t exactly stood out on special teams either. This Sunday is huge for the second year back out of Vanderbilt.

Look for the Buccaneers to give Vaughn some reps, what he does with them will greatly dictate his future with the team.
