Chris Godwin is expected to be franchise tagged by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers per Tyler Dragon of USA Today Sports. This will keep Godwin off of the free agent market.
Bucs are expected to franchise tag WR Chris Godwin before Tuesday's deadline, per source.

Godwin has been a key part of the Buccaneers offense leading the team in both receiving yards and receptions last season. Speaking of last season, Godwin played the 2021 season on the franchise tag. Tagging him for a second time would mean his salary cap hit would be just over $19 million for the 2022 season.
Godwin is still very young with a lot of good football ahead of him. The Buccaneers have said re-signing him was their top priority. If the team does in fact tag Godwin, they still have until July 15th to come to terms on a long-term contract.
