The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have traded a fifth round draft pick to the New England Patriots for guard Shaq Mason. Per Greg Auman of The Athletic did, Mason will take over at one of the guard positions left open by Ali Marpet’s retirement and Alex Cappa leaving via free agency.
Shaq Mason is reunited with Tom Brady in Tampa — blocked for him in New England from 2015-19. Mason is 28, with 98 starts in seven seasons with Patriots. Solid replacement at guard after losing Marpet (retired) and Cappa (signing with Bengals).

Mason has experience with Brady playing with him from 2015-2019. The Buccaneers will take on Mason’s contract with two years and $16 million left on it.
New #Buccaneers G Shaq Mason has a 90.0 overall @PFF grade since 2016, tied for second among guards with at least 1,000 snaps during that span of time. Only #Cowboys G Zack Martin (93.3) graded higher. Brandon Brooks also earned a 90.0 grade.
