Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady was asked back in October of last year how long he thought he could continue playing.

“I really think I can play as long as I want,” Brady stated. “I could literally play until I’m 50 or 55 if I wanted to.” Brady added, “I don’t think I will obviously,” noting there is a reason behind why his legendary football career won’t extend that long. My physical body won’t be the problem,” he explained. “I think it’ll just be, I’m just missing too much of life with my family.”

Fast forward to the following February and Brady retired from the game, then some 40 days later, he was back. Brady announced his return on a social media post saying,
“These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands. That time will come. But it’s not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. I’m coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa.”

From the moment he announced his return the speculation of he’d play beyond the 2022 season. And if so, would that be with the Buccaneers. Recently, Brady sat down with Robert Lundberg from Sports Illustrated. After the obligatory football questions, Lundberg asked Brady about playing beyond the upcoming season.

“How long could I play? Hypothetically, because I love hypothetical questions, I could play as long as I’m willing to make the commitment to playing,” Brady said. “I don’t think it’s gonna be another five years I’ll say that.”

Lundberg followed that question with, “Will we be seeing you in the creamsicle uniforms?” Brady’s response left the door open for Buccaneers’ fans.

“Mmmmm, never say never. I don’t know. It’s a good question. I’m going to take it year-by-year for sure on this. I know we are not wearing them this year but we are wearing them the year after this [2023]. So, we’ll see. We’ll see.”

The more we hear from Brady, the more it feels like he wants to play beyond the 2022 season. That said, Brady is also somewhat masterful in how he handles the media and his brand. Let’s be honest, it’s still unknown what Brady’s decision will be, but he does seem to have an affection for the creamsicle uniforms.
