Julio Jones on Buccaneers’ Offense,”I’m Picking it up Fairly Quickly”

It’s been just two weeks dinner Julio Jones joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And as you’d expect from a professional like Jones, he’s already deep into the Bucs’ playbook.

Via the Tampa Bay Times, Jones talked about getting up to speed on his new team, “Everything’s coming to me,” Jones said Thursday, via the Tampa Bay Times. “The game of football, you just don’t want to have to go out there and think. You want it to become second nature to you. But I’m picking it up fairly quickly, and it’s been good.”

“He’s Been More Than I Expected”

Jones looks to carve himself out a spot on a crowded receiver depth chart. With Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Russell Gage ahead of him on the depth chart, Jones will have to shine. That’s exactly what Buccaneers’ general manager Jason Licht thinks Jones will do. “He’s been more than I expected, to be honest,” Licht said recently on WDAE.

Jones has struggled with injuries the past two seasons. But before that he went yo six straight Pro Bowls. The 33-year-old receiver said the injuries have taught him the value of patience.

“As far as patience-wise, just going out there like, 60-70 percent and just feeling like you can go out there and compete, I was doing that in the past,” Jones stated. “But now I’m just staying ahead of it. Just getting the treatment, the proper treatment, the proper rest, things like that.”

Look for Jones to be a role player during the regular season. Once the team gets to the playoffs, we might see the Pro Bowl version of him. And that will be bad news for opposing teams.
