Buccaneers’ Bowles Updates Godwin’s Status

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been preparing for their final preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts. Head coach Todd Bowles‘ plan is to play every player that’s healthy.

The one starter fans won’t see play against the Colts is receiver Chris Godwin. But that shouldn’t alarm anyone as Godwin is still well ahead of schedule and making progress towards a full return.

Head coach Todd Bowles updated the media on Godwin’s progress recently.

“He got some good work in,” Bowles said. “He’s getting better. He’s getting his wind up, he’s getting his legs under him, but he’s getting better. Obviously no contact or anything but he’s getting better every week.”

The Buccaneers haven’t committed to a solid return date for Godwin. Obviously the team would love to have him for the season opener against the Cowboys. But there’s no need to rush him back with the depth the team has at wide receiver.
