Report: “Buzz” Connecting Derek Carr & The Buccaneers

0

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in the middle of a seismic shift at the quarterback position. When you’ve just had three years of Tom Brady being your quarterback, replacing him is a huge task.

Who’s Next?

The Pewter Pirates have been close vested as to their plans to replace Brady. Will they stay in the “All-in” strategy and trade for or sign a big name quarterback? Will they roll with Kyle Trask? Could they look to the draft? All options, no real answers, but there have been reports, and plenty of them.

Yahoo Sports’ Senior NFL Reporter, Charles Robinson was recently on the “You Pod To Win The Game” podcast with a report from the Senior Bowl. Robinson stated there is growing buzz connecting the Buccaneers and Derek Carr.

“So, the buzz here at the Senior Bowl, I’m in Mobile, Ala. by the way, the buzz is connecting them [Buccaneers] with Derek Carr,” Robinson stated. “Like, that’s probably the Derek Carr destination. I only believe that if the Bucs are like, ‘Let’s not reboot completely. Let’s not just nuke it right now and start all over again. Let’s see if we can maybe put this back together again.'”

Raiders On The Clock

The Raiders have until February 15th to trade Carr. After that, his contract becomes fully guaranteed. That’s three years at $121 million. So it’s in the Raiders best interest to move him now.

The Buccaneers have some serious cap issues to take care of. But as Robinson states, head coach Todd Bowles might not want to go through a rebuild, especially after his his first season as head coach went in Tampa.

“Look, I think if you’re Todd Bowles, you’re sitting there going, I don’t know if I survive a reboot,” Robinson stated. “Any coach in that position is sitting there going I gotta keep trying to win now. I don’t want to do a roboot, because I won’t make it and that will potentially be my last head job in the NFL.”

The rumors and reports will continue to fly until the Bucs tip their hand. As we asked earlier, will they stay in the “All-in” strategy and trade for or sign a big name quarterback? Will they roll with Kyle Trask? Could they look to the draft? As of now, according to Robinson, it appears they might stay ” All-in”.
