The Tampa Bay Buccaneers started their Optional Team Activities (OTAs) Tuesday ahead of the 2023 season. The Pewter Pirates look to chart a new course for their first post-Brady campaign.
With a new offensive coordinator and starting quarterback the Bucs have a lot of work to do installing a new offensive scheme. Because of that you’d expect a large amount of veteran player participation right? I mean, if not just for reps and chemistry.
Per Fox Sports’ Greg Auman, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were without Mike Evans, Shaq Barrett, Jamel Dean, Carlton Davis, Devin White, Vita Vea, Lavonte David, and Ryan Jensen. Now to be fair these are voluntary workouts, and its not weird for veterans to skip a few if not the majority of these.
With that said, it is a stark contrast to Brady holding extra practices at high schools or parks as he learned a new system and teammates once arriving in Tampa. Baker, and Trask to an extent aren’t getting that opportunity. Definitely something to keep an eye on moving forward.
OTAs are voluntary workouts, but Bucs veterans not here today: Shaq Barrett (injured), Mike Evans, Carlton Davis, Jamel Dean, Devin White, Lavonte David, Vita Vea, Ryan Jensen. On other end, Winfield, Godwin, Mayfield among the bigger names here.

On a good note, Auman reports veterans Baker Mayfield, Chris Godwin and Antoine Winfield Jr were in attendance Tuesday.
