In a game filled with stellar performances from the Buccaneers, there were still 5 guys (shoutout the burger joint) who really stood out for Tampa in Sunday’s 27-17 victory over the Bears.
Mike Evans
I mean, 170+ receiving yards on 7 catches and a TD? Sheesh. The veteran wideout proved that Father Time hasn’t caught up yet, as he was electric with some down the field masterpieces and a 70-yard catch-and-run that was key in getting the Bucs a victory.
Shaq Barrett
Shaq is known as a pass rusher, and he submitted a sack in a game where the Buccaneers did a wonderful job of getting after Justin Fields and making him uncomfortable. But obviously, the memorable play that really sealed the game is what gets Shaq on this list. His pick 6 to secure the game in the 4th quarter was absolutely huge in making sure the Bucs didn’t allow the Bears to sneak away from RayJay with a W.
Joe Tryon-Shoyinka
JTS has been largely a disappointment so far in his tenure with the Bucs, but Sunday was a glimpse into what he can do if things come together the right way, as he came off the field with a pair of sacks to help contribute to a dominant defensive performance.
Rachaad White
If you came into this game concerned that the Buccaneers rushing attack was going to continue to struggle this season, I understand. I was too. But hey, they ran for over 100 yards and Mr. White had a lot to do with it. He was able to get a TD in there, and racked up 5 catches too. An overall solid performance from the former Arizona State standout.
Baker Mayfield
Ah, Christian Izien just missed the cut, and it was narrowly. His pick at the end of the game was really fun, but ultimately it didn’t mean much. Baker was an elite game manager, and I don’t mean that in the usual snarky and negative way that people usually use that phrase. He didn’t commit any turnovers, and he spread the ball around nicely while pushing it down the field when appropriate. Baker continued his excellent play, and hopefully he’ll continue topass the big test against the Eagles next week.
