Captain’s Table/Walk the Plank: Buccaneers’ Bye

0

It’s a bit early for a bye week, no? But alas, that’s how the NFL schedule makers shook things out, and the Buccaneers have 13 games left without a break to finish this 2023-2024 NFL season.

Despite there being no game to talk about, that doesn’t mean I can’t get on here and talk some shit about the rest of the division, some league stuff, and maybe some stuff you probably really don’t care about.

Without further ado, here we go.

Walk the Plank:

Mac Jones

I mean, good gracious, what a horrible performance from Jones this past Sunday against the Saints. The Pats couldn’t manage to score a single point, and Jones looked even worse than he did in his other touchdownless performance against the Cowboys the week previous. Not only is he a dogshit QB, he also seems to be a bit of a dick, with his weird tripping incidents and the DUI at Bama. So, yeah, get him the fuck out of the NFL.

The Houston Texans secondary

Yeesh, I know Desmond Ridder is probably better than I give him credit for, but he set a career-high in passing yards with 329 and no picks. C’mon now, he was even to get Kyle Pitts involved, who had a (for him) whopping 7 catches for 87 yards. That’s tough, and CJ Stroud deserves better.

Captain’s Table:

Creamsicle Uniforms

Hey! Something cool! That’s fun; the Bucs are donning their throwback creamsicle uniforms for this week’s matchup with the Detroit Lions, and it really should be a lot of fun. No one enjoys cool uniforms more than myself, and these may not be technically or outwardly super pleasing to the human eye, but it’s something different, and I’m all about that.

Calijah Kancey returning to practice

Ah, finally, the highly-anticipated Calijah Kancey out of Pitt is practicing and hopefully on track to return to action this weekend. And his timing really couldn’t be better; while I think the Buccaneers should take care of business against Detroit, I also am a bit concerned with the Lions’ offense, and for good reason. They’ve been one of the best groups in football, so hopefully the solid start from the Bucs defensively combined with the galvanizing factor of getting a big-time contributor back in action will allow the Bucs to limit the Lions a bit.
