Former Buccaneers Great Marpet Talks Bribes From Brady

Former Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady is notoriously a competitive guy. Whether that be on the field or off, Brady always wants to win. While this isn’t exactly a revelation to most, it is worth noting again after this recent revelation from one of his former teammates.

Fan favorite and recently retired Bucs legendary offensive lineman Ali Marpet was recently on the “Wam Bam” podcast where the topic of Brady came up.

Marpet on the “Wam Bam” podcast via,

“[Brady] took our starting offensive line to the side and he’s like, ‘Hey, if you guys can get a screen to go for more than 15 yards, I will give you $1,000 cash each,’” Marpet stated. “‘That is for you guys, so every time that we get that, I will be happy to make that payment.’”

According to Marpet, this “incentive” was hit several times,

“Tom just knowing how guys are wired and what goes a long way and inspiring and getting the most out of his guys.”

OK, I know what some of you are thinking, “isn’t that illegal to do per NFL rules?” The answer technically is, yes, but this is also most likely more commonplace than we think. And I just can’t see the league raising to much fuss over something that doesn’t hurt any players or the integrity of the game. So pipe down Saints fans, this isn’t another bounty-gate. Call it the “Brady Incentive Program”.
