As reported by Josina Anderson, it looks like Free Agent Alterraun Verner has a workout scheduled for next week, however, it is not yet known what team he will be working with.
Since being released by the Bucs in February, Verner has not had too many options when it comes to landing a team for the coming season. In May he worked out for the Jaguars, which apparently did not go well due to him being “out of shape”. It was said at the time that they would possibly schedule a do-over in the future, so that’s one speculation.
Verner had one year left on his contract with the Bucs when he was released, reportedly saving $6.5 million in salary-cap money. After being benched in 2015 and losing a starting spot to rookie Vernon Hargreaves in 2016. He finished with one interception and 16 tackles, which made him expendable to the team considering they already had a veteran corner back, Brent Grimes, before the addition of Hargreaves. Hopefully his workouts this week will land him a spot and a new team to call home.
