The third preseason game is upon us and that means that games that matter is on the horizon. Dirk Koetter mentioned that there is close to “18 days until Atlanta” and this signifies the start of the season on September 11th against the Falcons. The head coach mentioned that one of the more important issues to look at is health, as Ali Marpet was in a walking boot and with the injury to J.R. Sweezy this creates a problem on the offensive line. Koetter was also speaking high of both Evan Smith and Joe Hawley who are fighting for the starting Center position. Due to the injuries, Smith has been playing Guard so it will be interesting to see how the starting offensive line will look in 18 days.

The play of Vernon Hargreaves was also a point of emphasis for Koetter as the rookie cornerback had two interceptions during practice. After having a superb game against Jacksonville the rookie from Florida is continuing his good play and he will be a player to watch as the season gets closer.

As a fan, the season can’t come soon enough and the questions that will linger over the next two and a half weeks are the play and health of the offensive line. Will the rookie kicker Roberto Aguayo be ready when more pressure will be on him? Also, will the defense be improved under Mike Smith and how good can Jameis Winston be as the franchise quarterback the Buccaneers have desperately needed over the years. Some of these questions can start to be answered in Atlanta very soon.
