Bucs not ready, and that’s ok…

I wouldn’t say the Bucs had some stage fright last night in the god-like romanesque temple dedicated to football and entertainment called AT&T Stadium in Arlington but maybe it was. Maybe the stage had finally become too big for this growing team with personality, but that’s OK.

Nobody expected the Bucs to be in the position they’re in now, even after last night’s loss. Even the most die hard, pewter bleeding, Buc flag tattooing fans didn’t see this type of season coming. 7-9 would’ve been an improvement but they got better, and quickly, under Dirk Koetter and Mike Smith’s tutelage and found ways to win under pressure that they never had in seasons prior.

If this team doesn’t make the playoffs, I’m OK with that. Did you think this was a playoff team coming into this season? What we did find out about this 2016 Buccaneers squad, very similarly to those 1996 Bucs,  is that they are climbing that mountain as we speak. They finally understand what it takes to get to this point to play meaningful football in December and January. I’m already excited for 2017 and what Jameis and his football family can do! Go Bucs!
