Name someone on the Buccaneers roster that can take a slant 80 yards. Do not worry, I have all day to wait. It will take you all day because there is no one on the active fifty-three-man roster that can do that
Oklahoma’s DeDe Westbrook is an exciting player. Whenever he touches the ball, the crowd and defensive coordinator hold their breath. Westbrook standing at six feet even weighing roughly one hundred and eighty pounds, he can take it all the way anytime he touches the ball. The former Sooner came to Oklahoma from Blinn Junior College in 2015.
In his first season at Memorial stadium, Westbrook finished the season with 46 catches, 743 yards, and four touchdowns. The following season he nearly doubles his catch total taking it to 80 with 1524 yards and 17 touchdowns. With a second round pick, this kid would be a steal and the second round has been kind to Licht and company with the selections of Marpet, Spence, Aguayo, and Smith.
Westbrook could be that number two receiver the Bucs are looking for. Granted Westbrook had a limited route tree, at least from what I have seen on tape, but he is a precise route runner and has speed. He doesn’t have the height that everyone wants, but you will rarely ever get the size and speed combo. Not too many Randy Moss like in today’s game.
With Evans size and physicality, and Westbrook’s speed and route running, the NFL would not catch a break. The Winston to Evans and Westbrook connection could be a deadly one.
