With the absence of Javorski Lane, it was noticed the Buccaneers did not have a true lead back nor a short yardage back. Freddie Stevenson could be the next guy. At Florida State, he played fullback and from time to time was a single back. With the Bucs bringing him in it could mean the Buccaneers are aiming back to old-school power football.
The 6-foot, 234 lb FB is widely considered a top two fullback in this year’s draft and made his case at the combine. Formerly a linebacker, he made the switch in 2013 and although he had only 132 yards rushing and 7 TDs in his college career, he had rushed for four of those touchdowns the in his final year at FSU.
Many may call into question his blocking ability, but he has Jameis Winston to vouch for his blocking skills, and he helped pave the way for Dalvin Cook.
