Sapp to donate his brain for CTE research

0

Bucs Hall of Famer DT Warren Sapp announced today that he plans on donating his brain for Concussion and Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) studies to the Concussion Legacy Foundation. Sapp went on record saying his brain does not function as well as it used to. #99 cited examples like forgetting grocery lists or directions to a friend’s house he’d been to a thousand times.

Sapp, being a DT in the trenches, would’ve been subject to constant battery of the head on the line. Sapp mentioned the great Nic Buoniconti, who told S.I. that he feels like a child after his PET scans confirmed major damage. In April of this year, a Boston University research team examined the brains of 48 former players and came back to report 47 showed signs of CTE. Another research team paired with Boston U found CTE in another 87 of 91 players brains.

Truly staggering numbers.
