Buccaneers to win NFC South?

Last season the Buccaneers finished second in the NFC South, right behind none other than the Atlanta Falcons. The Bucs had some serious injuries that had hurt them during the season. Roberto Aguayo comes up short a few times and Jameis tries to force things that shouldn’t have been also hurt us. That was last year and this is a whole new ball game now this Buccaneers team feels like it is completely different.

So who will come out on top of the NFC South this year? Let’s go through the teams and compare their loss and additions.

FALCONS– So honestly other than signing a few of their own players, the Falcons haven’t really done much this free agency. They did sign defensive tackle Dontari Poe. They did lose a key component of their offense, which was the offensive coordinator, Kyle Shanahan. Falcons signed Steve Sarkisian. We really don’t know what kind of offense they will be running, but we do know they probably won’t be the number one offensive power like they were last year. So know they won’t win the South.

SAINTS– Well what can I say about the Saints without talking about Drew Brees. If you have DREW you always have a chance. Sadly though, the Saints traded away his best target Brandin Cooks. Who did they get in return? Well, they have Ted Ginn Jr, but he is no Brandin Cooks. They did upgrade their secondary by drafting Marshon Lattimore and Marcus Williams. If Lattimore, can stay healthy, he can be a good corner in this league. They also signed older, but still a stud RB Adrian Peterson. With AP and Mark Ingram that should be a two-headed monster to deal with. I believe that defense is still going to be terrible and Brees consistently will be playing from behind. So no they will not win the South, sorry Brees!

PANTHERS- Carolina drafted a multi-purpose type of running back named Christian McCaffrey. He is a running back, slot receiver, pass catching back, or return specialist. This guy can do a lot of things for them. They also drafted a good wide receiver from Ohio State name Curtis Samuel. He has the speed that Cam needs a wide receiver. They also upgraded their offensive line with draftee Taylor Moton and signed Matt Kalil (Brother of Ryan KalilThe Panthers have added some pieces trying to get the defense back into place that took them to the super bowl by adding veteran Julius Peppers and Captain Munnerlyn. I still do not believe they will be on the Buccaneers level. So no they will not win the South, sorry Cam!

BUCCANEERS- Last but certainly not least is the Buccaneers of course. The Bucs added a lot of key pieces to really contend in the South and most importantly the PLAYOFFS! We added: Desean Jackson, Jeremy McNichols, Justin Evans, Kendall Beckwith, O.J. Howard, J.J. Wilcox, and of course rookie sensation Chris Godwin. The Bucs really did everything they possibly could to make this team better. They will need everyone healthy because the Bucs have the 14th hardest schedule. We didn’t have any significant loss, but we made some significant additions. SO YES WE WILL WHEN THE NFC SOUTH! I am so ready to see this team play! Is it time yet?
