Brent Grimes out for preseason opener and maybe more.

The nasty laceration he suffered in practice, on Wednesday, will keep him sidelined for the first preseason game of the season. Bucs GM Jason Licht explained on SiriusXM NFL radio that his heart nearly jumped out of his chest when he saw Grimes go down. Grimes had several stitches to close up the wound and Jason Licht said that Grimes will be taking it easy for the next few days. He also mentioned that you never like to see stuff like that but is thankful that it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.

Grimes could miss the entire preseason, and with Jude Adeji-Barimah suffering from a broken kneecap, you will likely see Ryan Smith filling in.

Robert McCain, Javien Elliott, and rookie CB Maurice Fleming will also get to see more playing time with Barmiah unable to play.
