Captain Kirk the Answer in Denver? – Daniel Beebe

The Denver Broncos are in desperate need of a proven quarterback. They have searched through the draft for the heir to Peyton Manning. The Broncos drafted Brock Osweiler (2012), Trevor Siemian (2015), and Paxton Lynch (2016). General Manager John Elway should know better than to draft young quarterbacks like this. There has been no confidence shown in any of these guys. The Broncos have been sneaking into the playoffs due to that terrific defense, but now even the defense has shown to be vulnerable. Could the Broncos window of dominance be shut? Not so fast because the rumor is that they will be going all in for free agent Kirk Cousins.

Since 2015, Cousins has been the franchise quarterback in Washington. He played sparingly from 2012-2015 due to Robert Griffin III. Finally, the Redskins gave Cousins his chance and he never looked back. He has really been the only constant for the Redskins since 2015. Last season, Cousins threw for over 4,000 yards with 27 touchdowns. He has thrown for over 4,000 yards the past three seasons and almost hit the 5,000-yard marker in 2016. Cousins hit double-digit turnovers in the past 3 seasons, as well.

The Broncos are in need of some stability under center if they want to get back to the Superbowl. Von Miller still leads that stout defense. In fact, if you add up Lynch, Osweiler, and Siemian’s stats from the 2017 season they only threw for 3,668 yards and 19 touchdowns. Cousins put up better stats than Denver’s three quarterbacks combined. This is a no-brainer for John Elway and Company. Go get Captain Kirk!
