A Key Discussion – BritBuc

One of the most polarizing names in this year’s draft is that of Arden Key. Between LSU standout and absentee, teams really don’t know quite what they’ll be getting from the Union City native.

Key has the upside of being the best pure pass rusher in the draft and can line up with his hand in the dirt or can rush the QB from outside linebacker. The flip side is that the Junior has had surgery on his shoulder and went to the combine with a knee injury and didn’t run the 40; although it should be noted that he has said he will run it at the LSU pro day. Another question is his character and the vague reasons for his absence from the team, which has made some fans wonder if he has the mental toughness to play in the NFL.

His big chance to show his maturity and mental toughness will be at the interview stages of the combine and it’s become known that personal from the Buccaneers will be talking to Key. The Bucs have an obvious need at pass rusher and the new addition of Coach Buckner, it’s possible that hybrid players will be looked at more than once. The big question will be if Key impresses during his interview and will he be a serious consideration at 7 or will they wait to see how far he falls?
