This week the Tampa Bay Buccaneer s has a formal interview with Boston College’s DE Zach Allen. He was one of many players who interviewed with the Bucs, but Allen could be an interesting late round prospect.

During his press conference with the media, he said that he feels he would be a great fit in Tampa Bay’s defense. Whether it be 3-4, 4-3, or somewhere in between.

Scouts have noted that Allen has first round potential. Noting his high motor, strong hands, sets the edge well, and for being a bully on the field.

Even though he is strongest in run defense, he could show promise in his pass rushing skills. At the pro-level he would need to add more pass rushing moves to his toolbox. His size and quickness gives him the ability to rush inside or on the edge. Which could be a big plus under a Todd Bowles led defense.

In order for the Bucs to be in the position grab Allen in the back half of the first round, they must facilitate a trade with a QB needy team. The Bucs are in a good draft spot at fifth overall for team looking to leapfrog the Giants at sixth.

There is plenty of depth along the defensive line in this year’s draft. Which creates multiple scenarios for a Bucs team who could look to continue to improve their pass rushing abilities.
