Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, Safety, Florida
HT: 5’11” WT: 210 lbs
According to most NFL analysts who create mock drafts, Chauncey Gardner-Johnson will get selected in the second round of the NFL draft. With Tampa Bay’s secondary being one of the worst in the league, Licht and the Buccaneers’ front office should take a close look at this very promising safety.
The Florida native ran a respectable 4.48 seconds in the 40-yard dash and would have a great chance to improve Tampa’s weak secondary instantly. If he is still on the board early in round three and the Bucs have not drafted a defensive back at that point in the draft, Gardner-Johnson could easily end up being a very successful selection.
– Big, athletic frame
– Excellent burst
– Great at supporting run defense
– Has a knack to miss tackles
– His reads often end up with him being a step too late, causing a completion instead of a broken up pass
