Apollos Move To 5-0

The undefeated Orlando Apollos (4-0) traveled to Legion Field in Birmingham Alabama to take on the Birmingham Iron (3-0) in a match up if the leagues top 2 teams.

The Apollos took the opening snap and marched right down the field against the leagues number 1 offense to take a 6-0 lead.

After a few change of possessions the Apollos defense came up with a pick-6 by DB Keith Reaser to increase Orlando’s lead to 14-0

After a FG by the Apollos, it made the score 17-0 Orlando. Iron RB Trent Richardson scored his 8th rushing TD of the season to bring the score to 17-8 Apollos. Orlando added a FG just before the half to put the Apollos ahead 20-8 at the half.

With just over 4 minutes left in the 3rd quarter Birmingham’s RB Brandon Ross caught a 30 yard pass from backup Quarterback Keith Price to close the gap to 20-14 Apollos.

The Apollos answered immediately with a 27 yard FG to increase the lead to 23-14 heading into the 4th quarter.

After another solid series by Orlando’s defense the Apollos drove down the field and scored again. This time it was a 17 yard TD pass from QB Garrret Gilbert to WR Charles Johnson, and just like that it was 31-14 Apollos with just over 8 minutes left to play.

The teams exchanged possessions, but the score stayed the same 31-14.
Orlando moves to 5-0 on the season.
