Swarm Of Trades In 2nd Round. 2019 Draft To Break A Record?

The first two of three picks of the second round were kicked off by trades by the Colts and Jaguars. In total, 19 trades were made in the second round. Marking early in the second round that teams were not shy about trading up to grab their man. In 2017 the NFL set a record with 37 trades. Through 2 rounds now, the league is sitting at 31 total trades.

In the middle of the second round there were 5 consecutive total trades. With teams like the Browns trading up to 47th overall to grab CB Greedy Williams and the Saint trading up to grab their Center in Erik McCoy.

There were 7 total CB’s taken in the second round. With the Buccaneers grabbing Central Michigan CB Sean Bunting 39th overall. Bunting was the 4th CB taken in this years draft after only one, Deandre Baker, went in the 1st round to the Giants at 30th overall.

With Byron Murphy, one of the highest graded CB’s in this year’s draft, and Rock Ya-Sin gone with the 1st two pick of the second round, Tampa Bay picked what they believed to be the best fit for DC Todd Bowles’ press-man coverage scheme.
