Defensive tackle Vita Vea went down with an apparent knee injury Tuesday during practice. Seeing a key part of the defense going down with a suspected knee injury is never good.
A source tells me Vita Vea will be getting an MRI on his knee Friday… https://t.co/JNKYuVxYxL

Vea was able to walk off the field under his own power. That is a good sign but in no way rules out an injury that may sideline him for a period of time. Knee injuries can be tricky and not something that should be taken lightly. Vea is a very large man, so while some athletes have played through knee injuries it’s not likely Vea would be able to do so.
Vea will have an MRI done on Friday to further evaluate the extent of his injury. His status for Friday’s preseason game is obviously doubtful and rightly so.
*UPDATE*
According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times Vea had an MRI last night. No results were available at the time of this update.
Bucs DT Vita Vea has an MRI on his left knee last night. He’ll get additional testing the next few days while the swelling goes down. No timetable yet for his return or even details of the injury available.
