Trask Odds-On Favorite to be Buccaneers Starter

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have arguably one of the toughest tasks ahead of them in replacing retired quarterback Tom Brady. Shortly after Brady’s retirement the rumors started.

First it was Aaron Rodgers, then Russell Wilson, then it was Brady is coming out of retirement. It didn’t stop, then it was Deshaun Watson, then back to Rodgers. Throw in a mix of Jimmy Garoppolo and Carson Wentz for good measure. Well, Rodgers just re-upped with Green Bay, Wilson was traded to Denver, Watson is still a Texan and Brady is still retired.

So Now What?

Well if you listen to Vegas odds makers, the Buccaneers already have their starting quarterback, Kyle Trask. Trask, a fan favorite out of the University of Florida was drafted by the Buccaneers in the second round of the 2021 NFL draft. The odds that Trask would be the starter was at +400 but is now +350. I’m not going to say Vegas is always right, but they don’t make money hand over fist for no reason.

Trask looks to have all the tools necessary to be a starter. He spent his rookie season watching and learning from the G.O.A.T., but never once dressed for a regular season game. At this point I do believe the Buccaneers starting quarterback position will come down to a battle between Blaine Gabbert and Trask. Welcome to a new team Bucs’ fans.
