The Tampa Bay Buccaneers just lost a quality safety in Jordan Whitehead to the New York Jets. Several outlets immediately speculated that the Buccaneers let Whitehead walk without even making him an offer because they had their eyes set on a different safety. A “Honey” of a safety if you will.
It’s common knowledge that Bruce Arians and Todd Bowles are fond of safety Tyrann Mathieu. I mean, he’s literally engaged to Bowles’ stepdaughter. So of course when Mathieu tweeted out this picture of him with his family at an amusement park, Buccaneers fans and media alike thought, “Hmmm”.

Yes, that is also Bowles’ sons with them in the picture. Yes, of course this is speculation at it’s finest. Yes we, like most of you are looking at this and thinking, “maybe this was the Buccaneers plan all along”.
As Jenna Laine of ESPN stated there is no credible source linking Mathieu and the Buccaneers. But we do know back in 2019 Arians tried recruiting Mathieu to come to Tampa Bay, but he chose Kansas City instead. Now that he’s a free agent again, we have to believe he’s at least on the Buccaneers radar right?
