Buccaneers’ David Talks Upcoming Free Agency

Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ linebacker Lavonte David has been in the league for 11 years now. While the majority of those years his play went unnoticed, Bucs’ fans knew he was something special.

Then back in 2020 Tom Brady came to town, bringing the focus of the national media on the Pewter Pirates. Suddenly David becomes a household name, funny how that works.

After a season ending Wild Card Round loss to the Cowboys, David took time to look back at his time in Tampa while acknowledging his future is still unclear.

David on his future

“You never know what could happen. I don’t worry about it too much though. It’s not up to me. I’ll take this offseason, time to just reflect, get my body right and see what I’m going to do from there.”

Bowles on David

“He’s a true professional. He came back, he worked out every day. He kept his body good, he kept his legs fresh.” Bowles continued. “He did all the right things. You’ve got to protect him from himself sometimes because he tries to go nonstop. But it’s a credit to him and how hungry he is and how much he loves to play the game.”

The rumor mill list of teams interested in David’s services is lengthy. We’ve heard reports that every team from Detroit to Los Angeles and from Buffalo to Miami will show interest in the 11-year veteran. It is our belief the Buccaneers won’t let David hit the open market. But with the unknown status of the coaching staff and whether Tom Brady will return still up in the air, nothing is guaranteed.
