Four Super Bowl Bets Worth Tuning In For

0

Are you looking to make money in the upcoming Super Bowl LVII? Then you’ve come to the right place. If you’re a huge football fan and want to make it more exciting, betting on the Super Bowl is the first event you should consider. It’s the biggest sporting event in the US, after all.

That said, there are a lot of betting types that you can wager on during the Super Bowl. From money line betting to prop betting, there are a lot of opportunities to win big during the event. With that in mind, here are some of the Super Bowl bets you need to check out during the festival.

Money Line Betting

Money line betting is one of the most straightforward types of bets that you can make in the Super Bowl. In this bet, you have to pick which team would win the game straight up. You don’t have to worry about the margin of victory, how many points both teams will accumulate, or who the MVP will be. If the team you bet on wins, then you get the payout. Let’s have the current matchup: Kansas City Chiefs vs Philadelphia Eagles. The odds will usually look like this:

Kansas City Chiefs: +105
Philadelphia Eagles: -125

The favorite in this matchup is the Eagles, which is signified by the negative sign and vice versa. These odds mean that to win $100, you have to bet on the Eagles with $125. On the other hand, you have to bet $100 to win $105. If you win with the Eagles, you go home with $225, but if you win with the Chiefs, you go home with $205.

Spread Betting

This is where it gets interesting. Spread betting is the most popular type of bet in any form of sports betting, not just in the NFL. In this type of bet, you will be betting whether the team you bet on will cover their spread. You might need clarification with all these technical terms, so let’s use the previous example.

Kansas City Chiefs: +4.5
Philadelphia Eagles: -4.5

With these odds, if you bet on the Eagles, they have to win with more than 4 points for you to win the bet. So, for example, if they win the game with a 3-point advantage, like 23-20, you lose the bet since they didn’t cover their spread. On the other hand, if you bet on the Chiefs, they have to lose within 4 points, like 23-20, in favor of the Eagles.

With this final score, you win your bet since they lost within a 4-point advantage. However, if they straight-up win the game instead, you still win the bet. If you noticed, there are decimal places in the odds. This is to avoid having a push where all the money will go back to the bettors. An example of a push is when the Eagles win the game with an exact 4-point advantage or vice versa.

Over/Under Betting

This one is simple. In this bet, it doesn’t matter which team wins the game but how many points they accumulate at the end of the game. There are other types of over/under bets, but the most common one in the NFL is the totals. In this bet, the bookie will publish a line where they show how many points the game will end with. For example, the odds are:

Totals (Over/Under): 37 points

If you think the game will end with fewer points, you should go for the underbet. If you think otherwise, you should bet on the over. The other types of over/under bets usually lean more on the stats like rushing yards, passing yards, how many successful catches a specific player will have, etc.

Prop Bets

This one is perhaps the most fun you can have when betting on the Super Bowl. Prop bets  touch all aspects of the game and everything around it. The most common prop bets are the player props, where bettors will guess about the stats of specific players. For example, how many yards will a specific player have after the game, or which player will have the most touchdowns?

But the most fun is the exotic prop bets. This is where it gets quite ridiculous. The bets are very bizarre, like how long the national anthem will be sung, or what color of Gatorade the players of the winning team will pour on their coach’s head, etc. Sometimes, you can make your prop bets with other bettors, making the Super Bowl experience more fun.

Final Words

The Super Bowl is due in the following weeks, and everyone is anticipating it with feverish excitement. It’s the culmination of the 2023 NFL season, after all. It’s going to be big with huge names attending the festival, so if you want to make your experience at home or the stadium much more exciting, do it with these bets.
