Buccaneers’ David On Devin White, “His Emotions Got The Best Of Him”

Tampa Bay Buccaneers star linebacker and elder statesman Lavonte David spoke with the media Wednesday after minicamp practice.

Obviously one of the questions asked was about fellow linebacker Devin White and his offseason saga. The question of what was White thinking in asking for a trade was posed to David. He didn’t hesitate or hold back.

“Emotions got the best of him,” David said of White via JoeBucsFan.com. “You know, I know Devin wants to be here. He wants to play here. So his emotions got the best of him. He’s here. You know he’s here ready to work. He’s not ready to go right now but he’ll getting [ready] for training camp.”

David went on to talk about telling White to show his appreciation and love for the team and the city of Tampa.

White has taken criticism for his handling of his contract situation. He needs to learn how to separate emotionally from the business side and focus on the playing side. Then, and only then will he be able to be a true leader on this team.
