Charles Sims Thrives in Doug Martins Shadow

Charles Sims has been quite the sleeper this season. His 103 rushing attempts for 514 yards doesn’t seem like a lot for a running back, even though, it is a 5.1-yard average. Those are pretty dang good numbers for a backup. The impressive feat is his 42 rec for 487 yards and 4 TD’s. Now, those stats are impressive for any back-up.

“Charles Sims gets a fraction of the attention and accolades directed at Doug Martin, but the second-year running back is quietly making a name for himself. Sims’ 117-yard day against Chicago (four rushes for 45 yards and three catches for 72 yards) pushed his combined total on the year to 1,001. Paired with Martin’s 1,565 yards from scrimmage, it marks the second time in Tampa Bay Buccaneer history that the team’s produced two backs with over 1,000 such yards. The only other time it was accomplished was in 1999 by Mike Alstott and Warrick Dunn.” – Reported by Eric Horchy
