Pro Football Focus ranks Tampa’s running backs, Doug Martin, and Charles Sims, as the two of the best running backs, in the NFL, for 2015. Martin came up 83-yards shy of tying the NFL’s leading rusher, Adrian Peterson, and for one week was the NFL’s top rushing leader. Sims picked up 529-yards on the ground while collecting 561-yards, through the air. Sims and Martin combined for a one-two punch that was hard to beat when they were at the top of their game, and with these added weapons in the Buccaneers arsenal, rookie quarterback, Jameis Winston, was allowed to play comfortably and rack up 4,042 yards passing. (3rd in all-time rookie passing). These two running backs, wreaked havoc on defenses, and if Doug Martin re-signs, I’d expect the damage to continue, in 2016.
“The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a stellar one-two punch at running back inDoug Martin and Charles Sims. But exactly how good were they? Well, according to Pro Football Focus’ rankings, the Buccaneers actually had two of the best running backs in the NFL in their backfield in 2015.” – Report by Jeff Smith
