Twenty-eight-year-old, Cardell Hayes, the man responsible for the shooting death of former NFL player Will Smith, last Saturday night, is being held on a $1 million dollar bond. Hayes has been charged with second-degree murder. Police say that Hayes shot Smith and his wife, Saturday, after a traffic altercation in New Orleans’, lower garden district. Smith was shot in the back, and in the side following an argument over the traffic incident. Smith’s wife was also shot by Hayes and was taken to the hospital with a leg wound. A defense attorney asked that Hayes received a lowered bond, and noted that Hayes remained at the scene and waited for police to arrive. The defense attorney also noted that Hayes owns a towing business and has a 5-year-old-son to raise.
