Charles Sims had a pretty good season last year. Although he wasn’t the starter, he showed that he could be one if needed. He had 107 rushes for 529 yards, giving him a 4.9 yard per run average, which is very good for a part time running back. Jameis Winston also targeted Sims 70 times in which Sims caught 51 for 561 yards and 4 TDs.
His 11.0 yards per catch made Sims an asset last year, and one Tampa will likely use again in 2016. Charles Sims should see an increase in targeting from Jameis and an increase in touches. Doug Martin will, of course, continue being the feature back, but with Charles Sims playing the way he is, there is no reason why Dirk Koetter wouldn’t work Sims into more plays, making him a bigger part of the scheme.
