usa-today-9340147.0During Monday’s practice, first-round draft pick Sheldon Rankins was carted off the practice field. Rankins was injured during a goal-line drill. The team has yet to make an official announcement pertaining to the incident, however, it is said that Rankins is believed to have a broken fibula. Rankins will undergo more tests, but it also noted that surgery is to be expected for Rankins sometime this week. Coach Payton said as they get updates they will keep everyone posted and hopes that the news he receives is good news.
Rankins, who was drafted No.12 overall and is seen as one the most disruptive lineman in the 2016 draft, picked off Tom Brady in last week’s joint practice, turning heads and sparking hope for the rookie as an impact on the Saints’ defensive line. He ensured that hope by playing well against the Pat’s in the first preseason game.
