Rodgers shines on the big stage.

With all the Buccaneers injuries coming into week 5, it was time for someone to step up and boy did Jaquizz Rodgers step up.

On the first drive of the game Tampa made it well known they were committed to getting the running game going and taking pressure off of Jameis Winston. Rodgers showed he could handle the task touching the ball 11 times for 42 yards on a drive that would end up taking over 8 minutes of the first quarter.

Rodgers showed his power and toughness consistently pushing for extra yardage, taking on anyone and everyone in front of him. He would go on to touch the ball 35 times for 129 yards and gave the offense a spark that it hasn’t had for 3 games now.

With Doug Martin slated to make his return after the bye week, and Charles Sims presumably out for the season, a 1-2 punch of Martin and Rodgers could be just what the doctor ordered to get this offense back on track.
