Raiders set a record for penalties yesterday

The Raiders are known to be one of the most penalized teams in the NFL and yesterday they fit the profile to perfection. 23 times were the Raiders penalized and for a total of 200-yards. The 23rd penalty set the NFL single-game record for the most accepted penalties in one game, ever.

An illegal formation penalty was the one that tied the record, which was once held by three teams, the ’44 Brooklyn Tigers, the ’44 Chicago Bears, and the ’98 San Francisco 49ers. And illegal block above the waist by Seth Rodgers was the penalty that set the record. Even with the ridiculous amount of penalties, the Oakland Raiders still managed to keep their road game winning streak alive.
