Former quarterback Byron Leftwich has been hired as the Cardinals new quarterbacks coach. Ironically, Leftwich was drafted in 2003 seven spots behind the number one overall pick and current Cardinals quarterback, Carson Palmer.
Drafted in 2003 by the Jacksonville Jaguars, Leftwich played four seasons with the Jags before playing off and on for the Steelers and finding himself on the Buccaneers roster as, well as on the Falcons roster each for one season.
Having not played in the NFL since 2012, he now finds himself coaching a former draft mate, and how exactly that will work out, I’m not exactly sure, although, I do believe he will be there to coach those behind Palmer, and not Palmer himself, even though I’m sure Palmer will be more than happy to receive any helpful tips given by the new QB’s coach.
