Car Belonging to Bucs WR, DeSean Jackson, Involved in Single Car Accident in Tampa

A vehicle belonging to Buccaneers WR DeSean Jackson was involved in a single car accident on the night of December 24, 2017. The police report states a Chevy Silverado truck struck a tree near International Plaza in Tampa. The truck was found with two hollow point bullets and over 6 grams of marijuana inside. Jackson himself was not the driver and is now cooperating with police. The driver reportedly fled the scene. Bucs GM, Jason Licht, released the following statement “we are aware of a one-car accident the night of December 24th. Our understanding is that Jackson has been in contact with authorities and is now cooperating with the investigation.”

Police realized the car was registered to Jackson when they arrived and called Jackson down to the scene. Jackson’s representative issued a statement saying “It was a friend of Desean’s who borrowed his car while he was out of town without his knowledge” and that “none of what was found in the car was his obviously. He’s dealing with the person that was using it without his knowledge privately. The incident is being handled.”

So what does this mean for the WR, that the Bucs signed last off-season, to a 3 year, $35 million contract? Jackson is still explosive, but has failed to find chemistry with QB James Winston, constantly failing to connect with the deep ball all season. It looks like Jason Licht has his first crisis of the New Year to deal with after the Bucs just picked up his club option for next year’s season. Does he release Jackson or keep him around another 2 years, as it is difficult to find a receiver who can stretch the field like Jackson?
