Monken Happy to Have Sims Back

With the drafting of Ronald Jones in the second round of this year’s NFL draft , and with incumbents Peyton Barber and Jacquizz Rodgers still on the roster, you would think the running back room would be full and there wouldn’t be much room left for additions. Well, think again!

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers decided to bring Charles Sims back, and it’s safe to say, Sims wasn’t the only one excited to be back in a Bucs uniform.

Offensive coordinator Todd Monken was also all smiles. Monken stated that Sims will have an important role as the 3rd down back. He feels that the role of the third down running back has been undervalued and had taken a back seat to the passing league that is today’s NFL.

Some Bucs fans and media may have a sour taste in their mouth about the return of Sims, but let’s see how things play out with him this season before we begin to judge the decision.

After all, everyone deserves a second chance, right?
