Well, we are two weeks into the fantasy season and there is nothing like starting hot. Unfortunately, for me, that was far-fetched. I came up against some of the big guns that scored in week 2. Oh well. We live to play another week. As we look ahead to week three, there are some studs that are climbing the ranks. There are also some former stars that are falling. Are you ready for week three? Here are some starts and sits to consider.
Starts
QB
Jimmy Garoppolo – San Francisco 49ers
Jimmy G has a solid matchup this week against the Kansas City Chiefs. Currently, the Chiefs rank 32nd in the NFL in pass defense. While they can put points they give them up just as much. Especially through the air. Week 3 projections – 22 Pts
RB
Kenyan Drake – Miami Dolphins
Drake and the Dolphins will look to go 3-0 on this early 2018 NFL Season. Doing so will allow them to take command of the AFC East. They have a favorable matchup against the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders are giving up 155 yards per game on the ground. Look for Drake to take full advantage of this defense. Week 3 Projection – 14 Pts
WR
Quincy Enunwa – New York Jets
While the Cleveland Browns have looked better, their defense is still giving up many yards. The Browns are currently giving 265 yards per game through the air. This will play right into Sam Darnold and the New York Jets offense. Look for Enunwa to exceed projection in week 3. Week 3 Projection – 12 Pts
TE
Will Dissly – Seattle Seahawks
Dissly is averaging double-digit points at the TE position. While this week may not offer a good matchup on paper, the rookie TE is quickly becoming a favorite of Russell Wilson. I expect the trend to continue for Big Willie. He is another that should exceed week 3 projections. Week 3 Projection – 7 Pts.
K
Chandler Catanzaro – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Bucs currently have the highest scoring offense in the NFL after two weeks. They face a Pittsburgh Steelers team who has the second highest scoring offense. Can you say shootout? That will give these kickers ample opportunities to score points. Week 3 Projection – 8 Pts
Defense
New York Jets
The Jets have the NFL’s fifth-best defense. They have a TNF matchup against the Cleveland Browns. Unbelievably, this defense went undrafted in many leagues this year. They are now showing those naysayers a reason to start believing in New Jack City. They have exceeded projected scoring every week. Week 3 Projection – 6 Pts
Sits
QB
Philip Rivers – Los Angeles Chargers
Rivers has a very bad matchup against the Los Angeles Rams in week 3. While the Chargers may be the number three offense in the league, the Rams pass defense is number 6 in the NFL. Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters also have familiarity with Rivers making it even tougher. Week 3 Projection – 15 Pts
RB
David Johnson – Arizona Cardinals
The Cards have a matchup against the Chicago Bears in week 3. However, that is not the reason we sit Johnson. I am sitting DJ because the Cardinals offense cannot move the ball and have only scored one TD in 20 offensive possessions. Unless they move to Josh Rosen before the game, stay away from Johnson. Week 3 Projection – 19 Pts
WR
Davante Adams – Green Bay Packers
Adams and the Packers travel to Landover, Maryland to take on the Washington Redskins. Surprisingly the Redskins have the number one pass defense in the NFL. Their corners are playing exceptionally well. That should make it tough on Adams this week. Week 3 Projection – 15 Pts
TE
Jake Butt – Denver Broncos
Butt had a better than average game against the Oakland Raiders in week 2. Week 3 is a little tougher. The Broncos go on the road to Baltimore. The Baltimore Ravens have the third-ranked pass defense in the NFL. Week 3 Projection – 4 Pts
K
Phil Dawson – Arizona Cardinals
As we stated, the Cards play the Bears. They cannot move the ball. We could actually see Josh Rosen this week. Stay away from Cardinals players. Week 3 Projection – 7 Pts
Defense
Detroit Lions
The Lions have a week 3 matchup against the vaunted New England Patriots. This game on Sunday Night could be over by halftime. Enough Said. Week 3 Projection – 2 Pts
So there you have your week 3 starts and sits. I hope that your week 2 was better than mine. You win some and you lose some. Good Luck!!
