It’s Time For Ronald Jones

So far this season the Buccaneer’s running game has been absolutely nonexistent. To date, RB Peyton Barber has a pathetic 3 yards per carry. So my question is, why not start ROJO?

Ronald Jones II was the Bucs’ second round pick this year. He was dominant during his time at USC. In his junior season, he rushed for 1,550 yards at 5.9 yards per carry and 19 TDs. Jones was known for his blazing speed, a threat to take it to the house any time he touched the ball. At his Pro Day, he ran a blazing 4.4, and that was with a bad hamstring. Jones is also exceptional in space, easily making defenders miss in the open field.

This year Jones has been a healthy scratch for 3 out of 4 games for several reasons. He is not known for his ability to catch the football, which is one knock against him, another being that he doesn’t pick up the blitz very well to protect the QB. Even with Jones’s shortcomings, it’s time to give the rookie the ball. With Barber being completely ineffective, they need to hand the ball to the rookie. Allow him 20 carries and see what the rookie can do.
